The information was obtained through Texas Tribune and Military Times. This is the first known incident in which a member of the Texas National Guard has shot and injured a migrant since Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Lone Star operation, which aimed to reduce the number of migrants entering Texas. The incident took place near the border between Texas and Mexico, and it resulted in a migrant being taken to the hospital due to the national guard’s lapse of judgment.

The main message that is being conveyed throughout the entirety of the article is that the journalist attempted to maintain a neutral perspective by gathering evidence from U.S. Representatives, Attorneys, Spokespeople, and anyone else who has a voice that dislikes Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s dogmatic approach to attempting to resolve such a problem. As if Greg Abbott’s method will eventually result in harm or worse for someone. Some even contend that the time has come for immigration reform and that we should alter our approach to dealing with situations like these.

The weakest part of this article, in my opinion, is the lack of evidence, even though it backs itself up with multiple outlets and many different news companies and testimonies from multiple people. However, there were no numbers, statistics, or even charts. What I thought would have been nice was if this “Lone Star” Mission versus lack of this Mission was done to see the numbers on migrants being able to come or unable to come due to the geopolitical environment, and this possibly could have been done with plenty.

Although I agree that they could have used more charts, I fully comprehend the journalist’s decision to go this route given that this is a rare instance of the Texan National Guard harming migrants. And the reason I mentioned how this affects immigrants is that, in addition to the dangers of the desert, deportation means that the nation that is portrayed as a land of the free is also one that is willing to harm rather than assist immigrants.

We have talked a lot about how immigration has become such a contentious issue. I wanted to show how far politicians are willing to go to achieve this goal and how things must change. We cannot allow members of the community to attack unarmed migrants for resisting arrest; I know that if someone with Caucasian skin fought, they would only be given a slap on the wrist and not be harmed.
